In Grandmothers’ Hands

In Grandmothers Hands receive a cheque from the John & Jan McIntyre Fund Funds at Huronia Community Foundation (HCG).  The money was mused to purchase yarn for their Red Scarf program.

“In Grandmothers’ Hands Huronia has collaborated with the Gilbert Centre to raise awareness of AIDS in advance of World AIDS Day on Dec. 1.

Established in 2006, the local group supports African grandmothers who are raising children orphaned by the AIDS epidemic.

“Hand knitting hundreds of warm red scarfs, our grandmothers have joined with the untiring efforts of the Gilbert Centre to create an event during HIV/AIDS awareness week to bring warmth and caring to people in need locally,” said member Sandra Baldwin.
