Huronia Community Foundation Marks 25 Years During Special Celebration Event
The Huronia Community Foundation (HCF) was registered on March 2nd 2000, becoming the 99th Community Foundation in Canada.
More than 80 people attended the March 12th event at the Midland Public Library, to celebrate 25 years of Huronia Community Foundation supporting local charities across North Simcoe.
“HCF has gone from ONE person’s idea 25 years ago, to an organization that supports 67 local charities who are making a difference in all sectors of our community. Imagine what could be achieved by HCF in the next 25 years?” said President Susan Lalonde Rankin.
The audience heard from Garry Morehouse, the first Executive Director of HCF, who shared the personal reflections from Ruth Gammell (HCF’s First President) on the beginnings of the Foundation.
20 local charities attended and shared the impact of a recent grant from the Heart of Georgian Bay Community Forward Fund. Recipients shared in $102,500 provided by the M Wayne and J Coleman Family Fund. This year’s grants supported projects addressing food security, healthy living activities, educational and literacy training opportunities, creativity in arts and culture, promotion of mental health and environmental leadership.
Paul Eichhorn, HCF Board Member and Chair of the Foundation’s COMMS Committee unveiled HCF’s new Logo and Tagline to the audience.
“As we are reaching a significant milestone in our organization’s history, we felt it was an appropriate time to reflect our identity with a new logo and tagline. Both represent not only where the organization is today but where we are heading in the future.”
The event concluded with remarks from local dignitaries and words of thanks from Executive Director Scott Warnock.
Since 2000, the Huronia Community Foundation has provided over 3.5 million dollars in support of local charities across North Simcoe.
