Vox Huronia accepts a cheque for $2,000 from the Jake Just fund held at the Huronia Community Foundation (HCF).

Jake Just was a talented young man who loved music.  His loss is still keenly felt by his family and friends.  In memory of Jake, a generous donation has been made to Vox Huronia Community Choir through the Jake Just Memorial Fund.

The fund will provide financial grants to support individuals in the North Simcoe Region in their pursuit of vocal development.  Teachers from local voice studios, as well as local elementary and secondary schools will be encouraged to put forward names of students who would otherwise have difficulty in paying for vocal music training.

Each year, money will be available from the donation; the amount of money available for grants will depend upon how much is provided from the Jake Just Memorial Fund.

The grants may be used in the following ways:

  1. a) private or group vocal instruction,
  2. b) payment of vocal exam fees,
  3. c) payment of entry fees to local music festivals,
  4. d) payment made to accompanists,
  5. e) purchase of music.

Applications will be made to the Board of Vox Huronia Community Choir.  These will be reviewed in early February and grants will be handed out at the end of the month.  Acknowledgement of receipt of grants will be in the form of a thank you letter directed to Vox Huronia. This letter should state how the funds were used by the recipients.
